The current QES website was launched in March of this year,
and, although it has met with some success, has proved difficult to
navigate. It is cumbersome and unstable. Work is currently under
way to completely re-develop the site, and the plan is for the new website to go
live in March 2010. The new site will contain many of the features available here, but will be easier to navigate. There will be a minimum of downloadable PDF files, which we appreciate, slows down the process of browsing and researching within these pages.
The process of joining the Society and making an on-line application is to be simplified and the payment process for subscriptions, will also be updated and easier to understand and use.
Our webmaster would appreciate any helpful suggestions for additional sections and features, which our visitors and users might find helpful in terms of general information and items of interest, when researching and learning about the English language. Please contact the webmaster by email.
The Annual General Meeting of the Queen’s English Society
was held in London on 26th September. Martin Estinel, founder
of the QES academy, addressed the meeting, informing members of his plans
to develop the academy and asking for volunteers to participate. Miss
Cawood, who has been Chairman of the Society for the past three years,
announced her decision to stand down. She was presented with a bouquet
and made a Vice-President of the Society. Michael Gorman was elected as
Vice-Chairman, Ken Thomson as Media Consultant; Mike Plumbe and Ray Ward were
re-elected as Trustees.
